Azerbaijan is a dynamic and resilient economy. It has overcome significant challenges and is a regional leader. It offers great opportunities for investors who want to tap into its rich natural resources, geographical location and vibrant private sector.
The economy boomed between 1995 and 2015 thanks to the country’s hydrocarbon wealth, with real gross domestic product (GDP) growing an average 10 per cent annually. The economy rebounded strongly from Covid-19, with the non-oil and gas sector leading the way this time around.
Through its vision for 2030, Azerbaijan is prioritising market-oriented reforms, private-sector development, business-friendly governance and trade liberalisation. It has also developed a robust strategy to strengthen ties between society, businesses and the state. Recently, Azerbaijan adopted a new renewable energy framework that supports green projects and encourages foreign investment.
