The Alaska Native Claims Settlement Act (ANSCA) was passed and signed into law by then-President Richard Nixon on December 18, 1971. Through ANCSA, Congress created the first socially responsible, for-profit corporations tasked with promoting the social, cultural, and economic advancement of their Alaska Native people and communities in perpetuity. The Act established 12 regional corporations and 220 village corporations and allotted 40 million acres of land among them. Cape Fox Corporation is one of the corporations that began as a result of ANSCA and we are proud to celebrate this milestone anniversary this year.
