Newer technology LED lights give you the oportunity to create some cool effects in your room and inside or round your furniture, and have some beautiful mood lighting in your living area.
There's not much to LED lights realy. There is simply a plus and a minus wire that need to be connected to a proper power supply to light it up.
The manufacturer is usualy labeling each wire or they use a color code for the two polarities. The Red or Yellow wire is usualy the Plus [+] wire and the Black wire is the Minus [ - ] wire.
The tricky part may be in the power sypply. The power supply I use in the video is a small one of around 30W, and it has two same colored wires, so we need to determine which one is which.
This can be done either with a simple multimeter, set in the 20 V range, or simply connecting streight to the light, and if the light doesnt' light up, then we simply connect the wires the other way around.
There's realy not much to it. DC power is quite straight forward.
The current that the power supply is able to provide is an issue. If we want to power high power lights, like this automotive H7, 55 Watt bulb I show in the video, then we need a power supply that can provide enough current to light it up. The small 30 W AC/DC power supply I have plugged in the socket wasn't able to power it up. It did light up the 21W bulb though.
But the LED lights don't realy need much power and current. Maybe 1 or 2 amps. LED strips use very little current. They are usualy rated between 4 and 14 watts per meter.
Always remember to insulate properly the connection points, or use proper connectors, and make sure you don't short the leads from the power supply, because you may burn it up.
Realy, be careful with that.
