The Irish Prime Minister has condemned the I-R-A bombing in London on Friday and said the renewed campaign of violence must be stopped.
The Irish Foreign Minister has said the Irish government is today (Saturday) considering the implications of the bombing regarding its contacts with Sinn Fein in the light of the bombing.
SOUNDBITE:
"I believe it is very important that people understand that this decision of the I-R-A is politically, profoundly mistaken, of course, but also profoundly, morally wrong."
SUPER CAPTION: John Bruton, Irish Prime Minister
SOUNDBITE:
"I think it is entirely right to ask the I-R-A and Sinn Fein to say now that this campaign has stopped, that they will not resume it ever again, ever again, and they must be clear and unambiguous on this occasion, that they will never review such a campaign. It is not simply enough, unfortunately, after what has happened yesterday, for a tactical announcement to be made. There must be a clear statement that force not only is being stopped but will never be resumed."

SOUNDBITE:
"(Are you still prepared to talk to Gerry Adams and the leadership of Sinn Fein?) The government has contact with Sinn Fein, the leadership of Sinn Fein, over the last 17 or 18 months on the basis of a cessation of violence. That is what we have to assess this morning - the implications for those contacts of what happened in London last night. (Q: But you're not really able to continue to talk to Sinn Fein?) We haven't had the opportunity of assessing the implications of last night's bomb. That's what we're going to spend today doing and obviously make decisions after our assessment has been done. (Q: It's a sad day though?) Obviously it's a very sad day."
