In this lesson, we teach our learners how to "target." Specifically, we are training our learners to touch their nose to our flat, outstretched hand when presented at any distance.
Keep in mind that even though we are using a dog in this example, you can train this in any animal with a nose! (Our rabbit at home is very good at this behavior!)
This is a very important and useful behavior to train as it can be used to bridge or teach a plethora of new behaviors! Such as walking between the legs, spin, teaching the “off” or “down” behavior, or teaching a pet to go up or down the stairs, just to name a few!
