In this video, I provide an overview of the catastrophic failure of an embankment fill section for Highway 22 (Teton Pass Highway) in Wyoming. Prior to the failure, there had been some debris flows in other parts of the roadway. At the slide location, slope movement was evident from cracking and settlement in the asphalt pavement, so Wyoming DOT set about constructing a temporary parallel road way but the slope failed first.
