“Young artists are coming out with artworks that are very valuable or forcefully telling the story of something that had happened to China. But telling their own story instead, which can be a story of any young person, anywhere in the world,” says Federica Beltrame, Director of Galleria Continua Beijing. Interested in what’s going on in Beijing culturally-wise, Galleria Continua opened its exhibition space in the 798 Arts District in 2005. “Every exhibition that we host, is very intense work that we do hand by hand with the artists. For instance, Anish Kapoor that we did in 2006 was one of the first exhibitions. It was very early to show a work like that in Beijing, and got really stuck in people’s memory and it was very positive.”
