This is probably one of the most known false depth dungeons for blood echoes farming, apart from the cummfpk, glyph ppqzah27. The other day I was farming it as I usually do, by clearing the First Bonus Room (making sure one of the Brainsuckers dies to the fire trap in the dark room, since it gives you something like 10 000 more blood echoes) and then moving on to the main room in the First Layer, with the two Celestial Emissaries and three Bone Ash Hunters, of which I normally only kill two. I normally hammer them with the Kirkhammer, visceral them and run away, only to come back one last time, hammer and visceral them for the kill. But I decided to give in and do how I see the "ghosts" doing.
So this is the resulting run, when I stopped I had earned 173 253 822 blood echoes, and ran out of Blue Elixirs and insight to get more. Got from BL370 to BL456, just missing 39 levels on Bloodtinge and 49 levels on Endurance to get to BL544. Wish me luck!
STRATS
Before starting - Make sure you either equip all the Heir runes you have or all the Moon runes, or a combination of both you find to be better for your play style. From my experience, if you visceral most of the enemies, you will get a lot more blood echoes with Heir runes, compared to when using Moon runes.
Spawning up to the 1st Hunter - After you spawn at the lamp, you want to go into the main area and kill the two celestial emissaries close by. They might chase you around if left unattended. I like to use the Saw Cleaver for them, but use something you feel comfortable with and know the move set well. These little guys, like everything in this chalice dungeon, can one-shot you.
1st Hunter/2nd Hunter - The approach is the same for both. You can run up to them, but as soon as you see the perpendicular white line on the floor, make sure you stop running, and start jogging; as you step on it, start walking, otherwise you will alert them. As you get yourself behind them, choose the weapon of your liking which will guarantee a kill, after the backstab into a visceral. In this case, I used my most powerful weapon, the Holy Moonlight Sword, whose double charged R2 into a visceral, kills the Hunters with ease. However, you need to practice your placement, otherwise you might launch the Hunter with your second charged R2, which will then leave you open and almost without stamina to react/run/give the final blow.
2nd Hunter up to the 3rd Hunter - As you kill the second Hunter, and while you are aligned with the pillar, take a Blue Elixir, so you don't get detected. In your current position, you shouldn't alert the Hunter, so you can run/jog up to the boxes and you can actually roll into them and destroy them, as this won't alert the Hunter. It's easy to get stuck in between the boxes and the wagon, but rolling should make it easy and smooth. Straight after breaking the boxes, move on to a walking pace, up until you reach the last portion of the protruding wall; right there and then, turn left and lock on. You just need to take about two steps to your left, so you can align yourself with the Hunter. Be mindful of your alignment in relation to the wagon handles as well. If you perform the first charged R2 but touch the handles going in for the second one, you will stagger and your hit will launch the Hunter, and potentially get you killed. Sometimes, the first time you load into the area, the Hunter is too far in between the wagon handles and this can't be avoided. But as you kill the Hunter and reload, it shouldn't be an issue for a long period of time. After you kill the Hunter, you just have to wait until you see the blood echoes come up on the screen and immediately after, you can use a Bold Hunter's Mark to reload the area.
Final Note
I have done runs were I went into the first bonus area first before the main area. It nets you over 200 000 blood echoes (specially if you kill one of the Brainsuckers with the fire dart trap), but it takes longer, so it's not worth it. Sticking to the main area is easier, will net you more blood echoes in less time, and it will make you go into routine mode/muscle memory, which will make your runs efficient and quicker, as you practice.
Happy hunting!
