The beige screw gear can perform an interrupted rotation thanks the space ratchet mechanism shown at:

When the operator pushes the pink lever to the left (towards the orange wedge bar):
1. The cutting roller contacts the material placed on the yellow table.
2. The blue slider moves to the left to cut the material.
3. The red pin contacts the screw gear, but can’t turn it.
4. When the wedge bar contacts the violet part the red pin can’t contact the screw gear more.
When the operator moves the pink lever to the right (apart from the orange wedge bar):
1. The cutting roller raises a little and doesn’t cut the material.
2. The green slider moves to the right and turn the screw gear once the red pin enters into the grooves of the screw gear.
3. The screw gear interrupted rotation makes the yellow table perform a linear displacement (a prepare for the next cutting) thanks to the bevel gears and the rack pinion drive.
Advantages of this design:
- Adjusting the width of the strip to be cut is possible by setting the orange wedge bar position.
- Adjusting the cutting angle is possible as shown in the last scene of the video.
