Caulking the inside and outside trim of a window is an important part of home maintenance. It helps to seal any gaps or cracks that could allow air or water to leak through, which can help improve energy efficiency and prevent water damage. Here are the steps to caulk inside and outside trim of a window:
Materials you'll need:
Caulk gun
Caulk (either silicone or latex)
Razor blade or putty knife
Damp cloth or paper towel
Steps for caulking the outside trim:
1. Clean the surface of the trim to remove any dirt or debris.
2. Apply painter's tape to the glass around the trim to protect it from the caulk.
3. Load the caulk gun with caulk and cut off the tip at a 45-degree angle.
4. Apply a continuous bead of caulk along the gap between the trim and the siding, making sure to fill the gap completely.
5. Use a putty knife or your finger to smooth out the caulk and remove any excess.
6. Remove the painter's tape while the caulk is still wet.
7. Allow the caulk to dry completely according to the manufacturer's instructions.
