The Japanese Ground Self-Defence Force (GSDF) held massive military drills on Saturday in Shizuoka Prefecture close to Mount Fuji.
About 2-thousand troops took part in the drills at the Higashifuji training site in the city of Gotemba and its vicinity.
The exercises, based on the scenario of a foreign invasion, lasted about 90 minutes.
Sixty vehicles, including tanks, 70 sets of artillery and 30 planes and helicopters took part.
About 32 tons of ammunition were used to in the exercise, which also saw airborne units conducting parachute drills.
The exercises have been held annually since 1961 at the 8,800-hectare site jointly used by the GSDF and the US forces.
