Root canal treatment is generally not a painful procedure. A doctor before starting root canal treatment will always administer local anesthesia to the patient after taking consent from the patient. So the area where the root canal treatment is being done is generally numb during the procedure and the patient is not going to feel the pain and patient is at ease. Therefore root canal treatment is not a painful procedure. It is a myth that it is a painful procedure because of the fear of dental treatment. There are lot of people who find it uncomfortable to do treatment in the mouth. With advanced technology we use in dentistry, the pain is absolutely nil in procedures like root canal treatment. Therefore patient is put at ease when we do a procedure for root canal.
