The growing political focus on the games industry may, in fact, be necessary in some areas, but in others, it is going to bring unwelcome secondary effects.... and more than ever before political discourse is referencing the games industry... even at times when it is entirely unrelated.

To be clear, this is NOT an attempt to sway or dissuade anyone from supporting whatever political candidate or agenda that they feel attached to... this is an opinion piece on how most of the political threads that are weaving their way through the games industry at the moment are actually laced with hidden motivations that should leave us at a minimum, extremely sceptical.
