In 1970, Dr. Norman Borlaug won the Nobel Peace Prize for his contributions to the Green Revolution that impacted food production across Asia and South America. Over the following half century, the world saw a historic rise in quality, quantity, and access to nutritious food.
More recently, two of the 2020 Nobel prizes recognized food security and agriculture, confirming the importance for all stakeholders, including the private sector, to continue to work collectively using science to address global food insecurity.
But what do the next 50 years hold for our planet’s farmers and agricultural systems? We talk to two young farmers about the major challenges facing food and feed production and what steps can be taken to ensure agriculture continues to flourish.
