The baby copperhead snake strike is incredibly fast.. While out herping and snake hunting on a sandy road, I saw a beautiful copperhead baby snake. When I set up my cameras, it start striking at me! There were at least twelve of the snake strikes. Really, how deadly is the baby copperhead? We show you how a viper strikes! Like the flying snakes, this copperhead left the ground on some of the strikes. Unlike a viper bite in slow mo, I was never in danger of being bitten by the poisonous copperhead.

How to identify a copperhead? Most have the hershy kiss pattern. These poisonous snake strikes are defensive and do not indicate an aggressive snake. The Copperhead and the cottonmouth water moccasin are related as they are both venomous and in the genus Agkistrodon. In a cottonmouth vs copperhead comparison, the main differences beside color pattern would be body shape. Cottonmouths have a much thicker body when compared to copperheads of the same length. As a rule, copperheads don't get as large as cottonmouths.
Copperheads are responsible for the majority of snakebites in the United States each year.
While severe, these snake bites are very often not fatal.
The speed of the 12 strikes is just amazing and lightening fast. This is something you don't often see when you encounter a copperhead. Most of the time they just try to get away or lay there motionless. I rarely see a venomous snake striking in the middle of a road.

Sometimes when you find a snake, you never know how its going to act…whether it crawls away from you quickly, or holds its ground…. Well this copperhead did very well by randomly striking out while I was recording it. The quickness of the strikes was very impressive and I was fortunate to record all twelve of them on camera.
About the thumb nail... snake stories are always a bit larger than life!
