You have heard it a million times, "aim-small, miss-small!" You have even heard it in movies but, what does it really mean? If you want tighter groups when shooting traditional recurve archery, aim-small, miss-small is something you need to learn to adapt.

Pick out the smallest possible point on your target, then hyper focus on it. Pretend that nothing else exists... just you, your arrow, and that one point. Don't look at the "whole", rather just focus on the single point and you will be amazed how your arrows will begin to impact either on that point or near it.

Traditional archery can be very rewarding however, it takes determination and practice to hone these skills. I've seen great improvement over the the past year alone, and can not wait to see how much better I can develop as an traditional recurve archer.

By the way, I'm shooting my 1967 Fred Bear Grizzly, 55# at 28" at a nerf ball 27 yards away. I would love to know what works for you. Or, if you have any advice for me to make some improvements, please leave a comment below. Thank you!

I took that nerf ball down to about 27 yards from here. And, ah, I like shooting a nerf ball, one because its cheap! You can get them at Wal-mart for under $10. And, ah, they make great little targets for this. Now I'm shooting, this is called a retaining ditch in my neighborhood. And, ah, so when it rains really heavy, you know, all the water drains off the streets into this ditch. This is awesome because most of the time this place is dry. And theres these high-wall berms surrounding this ditch.

So I've got the ball sitting on a wall down there that I can shoot into. It makes a perfect backstop so it's very safe to shoot at distance, because I can see if anybody's coming or whatever. Very safe environment to try and practice at long distances. So I'm only at 27yards, and this is a very hunt-able distance right here. And I'm trying to improve my accuracy and consistency.

Aim-small, Miss-small you have heard it a thousand times, it's been in movies. it's popular, it's whatever... it's so true! It is one of those key tips that has really made a dramatic impact on my shooting. The smallest point I can focus on generally keeps my group very tight. You know, when your looking at a target, if you look at the whole thing, and you shoot at it, you really do miss much bigger then if you hyper focus on the smallest possible point. When you miss, you tend to miss much smaller and your going to be very close. And from a hunting perspective that's really important.

So I'm looking down there and I see a little tiny white little spot and I'm going to try and hit that.

Boom! And I literally almost did! Hahaha! That's exciting, I got to be honest with you. It's pretty cool to hit that target. So pick another little tiny spot, hyper focus. Boom! Works pretty well!
But, aim-small, miss-small truly is a really great tip, it's what's helped me dramatically improve consistency and accuracy.

That's my recommendation, that's my tip for you this video, is ah, find the smallest possible point that you can pick out on a target. Hyper focus on that and ignore the rest of the

target as if it doesn't even exist, as best you can... right? Alright!
