The term alimony, in Colorado, is replaced by the term maintenance. The reason the term maintenance is used instead of alimony is that maintenance is entirely need-based. It is not as if someone is guaranteed or entitled to maintenance / alimony if someone is at fault or is "bad" in the marriage. Regardless of how bad the other party is, in Colorado, maintenance is determined by a formula.
