STORYLINE:
Hundreds of members of the Jamat-ud-Dawa group, including several leaders, gathered in Muzaffarabad on Thursday to show their support for the disputed territory of Kashmir.
The rally came ahead of Kashmir Solidarity Day which is being observed throughout Pakistan on February 5.
Supporters of Jamat-ud-Dawa listened to fiery speeches, waved flags and chanted slogans to show their support for greater Kashmir being part of Pakistan.
The United Nations (UN) claims that Jamat-ud-Dawa is a front group militant group Lashkar-e-Taiba. Both are banned by Pakistani authorities, and are the subject of UN sanctions.
Lashkar-e-Taiba, which means Army of the Pure, was established in the early 1990s to reclaim territories it views as Muslim land, primarily the Indian-ruled portion of Kashmir.
The territory is split between the two nuclear-armed rivals, and both claim it in its entirety.
They''ve fought two wars over it since their independence from Britain in 1947.
Nearly a dozen insurgent groups have been fighting for Kashmir''s independence from India or its merger with neighbouring Pakistan since 1989.
More than 68-thousand people, mostly civilians, have been killed in the conflict.
