Webinar showcasing new science to inform policy and promote climate change resilience.
New science and information on sea level rise and coastal climate risks is being developed to inform climate change adaptation decisions and promote climate resilient development in Pakistan. In the lead-up to COP26 climate negotiations being held in the UK in November 2021, this webinar aimed to showcase recent advances in research as well as provide an opportunity to discuss how best to translate and embed new understanding and evidence into policy and planning decisions. The webinar was co-hosted by the Water Environment Forum, Pakistan Meteorological Department and the Met Office, in partnership with the International Centre for Integrated Mountain Development, supported through the Asia Regional Resilience to a Changing Climate (ARRCC) programme, funded by the UK’s Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office. Discussions explored sea level rise impacts on coastal communities and ecosystems, and opportunities for climate resilient development in the Indus Delta region.
