A lot of people think that the shortest border lies between botswana and zambia, but this couldn't be further from the truth...

In one of my previous videos, I said that the shortest border was this 150 meter one from botswana to zambia, but I lied, sorta. Because while this may be the shortest entire border between two countries, its not the single shortest border.

That title goes, surprisingly, to Spain and Morocco. Now you might be thinking, “what?”

these countries are clearly separated by the mediterranean sea, right? How could they possibly a border together?

Well, you see, back in the early 1900s, spain used to control this little bit of morocco. When they finally decided to give up the territory, a couple parts were left in spanish possession, regions like Ceuta and Melilla. But Spain also kept a few smaller pieces of land off morocco’s coast, including this small rock inhabited only by a couple dozen spanish soldiers, who are stationed there 24/7.

There’s not actually any roads connecting this piece of land to the rest of morocco, so any supplies that the spanish need has to be brought in by helicopter. This is obviously really inconvenient for the spanish, which is why the population is so limited here.

It’s become pretty famous over the years because this border only stretches about 85 meters, making it the shortest border in the world.
