The race to airlift to safety the translators and other Afghan staff who helped the British effort in Afghanistan is gaining pace.
The plight of those that are stranded there, fearing for their lives should they be left behind, is reflected by the desperate helplessness felt by families and friends here.
For some hiding from the Taliban, even the journey to Kabul airport is now too terrifying to face.
