Flex Seal is advertised on TV as a fix all for leaks and waterproofing applications. In one commercial, Flex Seal is used to waterproof a screen door and to seal the bottom of a boat. So naturally, I want to find out if Flex Seal will work to waterproof a tiled shower and if flex seal can be used in lieu of a PVC pan liner, Red Guard, or Schluter Kerdi waterproofing. Flex seal bonds to common building substrates such as plywood, drywall, PVC and more. So I figured it would work in a tile shower construction application. But before I use it on an actual job, I made this video to show how it holds up in testing. Can it withstand a 14 day flood test? Will thinset mortar bond to it? Is it practical to use it as waterproofing for a tiled shower? Watch the video and find out!
