In our fifth official meetup, we introduce an all-new version of a core feature: Backstage Search. It’s more than just a box you type into — it’s a mini platform all by itself. With a composable frontend and extensible backend, you can design and build a search tool that suits your organization’s needs. Spotify’s Eric Peterson introduces the new search platform (1:40) and Emma Indal does a live demo (5:39) showing how easy it is to extend search capabilities, like adding results from Stack Overflow right inside Backstage. Plus, Austin Lamon shares what Spotify is investing in next (20:43) — including a new website to help companies adopt Backstage ([ Ссылка ]), separate community sessions for adopters and contributors, and more reviewers and maintainers. And, of course, great Q&A with the community (28:19) on security, MySQL support, and more.
New Backstage Search:
• Out of the box, it searches all the components/entities registered in your software catalog.
• Use collators to index anything you want, including other plugins (like TechDocs) and even external sources (like Stack Overflow and Confluence).
• Customize your search filters and choose what metadata appears in search results.
• Ships with Lunr, with ElasticSearch support planned — or hook up the search engine of your choice.
