STORYLINE:
US First Lady Jill Biden and her daughter Ashley Biden met with French President Emmanuel Macron's wife Brigitte Macron in Paris on Tuesday.

The US first lady is in France to attend a flag-raising ceremony at UNESCO, marking the United States' official re-entry into the United Nations' educational, scientific and cultural organisation after a five-year hiatus.

Before returning to Washington, Biden will also tour a historic venue in France, Mont-Saint-Michel, a 1,000-year-old Benedictine abbey that was listed as a World Heritage site in 1979.
