STORYLINE
Cuban President Fidel Castro criticised U.S. policy on terrorism and immigration on Friday night.
In what seemed to be a reference to the recent killing of Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, Castro said "It seemed like the biggest day in the world, the day that with technology and planes they launched some bombs that liquidated people that are accused all over the world. The accused cannot be eliminated according to all the laws dating back to Roman times when the first laws were written. They cannot do that act of barbarism."
Castro addressed a crowd of about 15-hundred people for four and a half hours at Havana's Palacio de las Convenciones (Convention Palace).
Castro spoke also about the treatment some immigrants receive in the United States.
"They have organisations dedicated to hunting down Mexicans and Latin American immigrants. Millions cross the border and they can't do without them because they'll run out of tomatoes", said Castro.
"Before it was the merchants with sail ships, now the slaves cross the border on their own to clean the latrines of the wealthy," he added.
The comments came during Castro's speech for the closing ceremony of an international seminar on literacy in Havana which started on June 5.
