"America believes that Kosovo ought to be independent. And I sought the President's advice and one of the things he made clear is something I agree with, and that is as we seek independence for Kosovo we have to make it clear to Serbia that there is a way forward, maybe in NATO, maybe in the EU and definitely in better relations with the United States."

"I simply do not view Russia as an enemy. Russia is a country with whom we should have and can have good relations to solve common problems. One such problem is Iran. Another problem is proliferation, there are areas where we can work together and he brought an interesting proposal. He said, I have an idea, why don't we jointly use a radar in Azerbaijan to help deal with a potential threat? I said, that's a good idea. I don't know whether it's technologically feasible, I'm not an expert. I've got experts in my government however who could analyse your proposal. I'd like for you to maybe, not maybe, I'd like for you to sign some experts in your government to analyse my proposal."

STORYLINE:
U.S. President George W. Bush urged Libya on Monday to free five Bulgarian nurses who face the death penalty for allegedly deliberately infecting children with HIV, charges the medics contend were based on confessions obtained through torture.
"They should be released and they should be allowed to return to their families," he told a news conference in Sofia.
"We will continue to make clear to Libya that the release of these nurses is a high priority for our country," he said.
Bulgaria's leaders were appealing to Bush for U.S. help in freeing the five Bulgarians and a Palestinian doctor
Detained since 1999, the six are accused of intentionally infecting about 400 children with HIV at a hospital in
Benghazi. All deny the charge.
The six medical workers were sentenced to death twice, in 2004 and again in 2006 following a court appeal.
Libyan court officials said they confessed, but some of the nurses have since said they confessed under beatings and torture.
They all say they are innocent.
President Georgi Parvanov thanked Bush for his support of his government's efforts to free the jailed nurses.
