In the past 5 years, I managed to travel to more than 15 countries and didn’t pay anything.

DiscoverEU is for people turning eighteen. As a gift, they will receive interrail pass which allows to travel by trains for free across Europe. A few years ago, I took part in DiscoverEU and travelled from the Czech Republic, my home country to Spain via Germany, Switzerland and France. This fantastic trip took 18 days.
One of my favorite initiatives are short Erasmus Youth Exchanges – these are for Young Europeans (+affiliated Countries). Basically, these exchanges include about 5 teams from different countries, the team consists of about 6 people, sometime less, sometime more. The topic of such project is usually connected with some social or environmental issue, but can be also cultural, or focused on sport, or art. So you will learn something new, have a fun with other young people and explore new places!
What if I am above 30 years old?
If you are above the age limit, there are similar training courses, without any upper age limit!
How long these projects lasts?
These projects usually last about one week.
Is it really for free?
Yes! The transportation, accommodation and food is paid! What else could you wish for?
How can you apply?
You need to find NGO in your country which will be your sending organisation. You can search for one in social media! Check out the video description for some tips.
If you would be interested in something more long term, you need to check out ESC - volunteering program for young Europeans aged 18 – 30 years.
The focus of ESC is diverse, from working with children, elderly people, you can take a part in environmental projects, or art, informal education, communications and much more!
You can do a short term (under 2 months) or long term (2-12 months) deployment, also individual and team deployements.
Again, transportation is funded, same as accommodation and you will receive a monthly allowance.
Where can you go?
Almost everywhere. The biggest number of placements is within EU, but you can also take part in Humanitarian Aid volunteering with positions in Africa, Asia or Latin America.
Check out the link in description for the database with current projects.
Right now, I am in Iraq on my Humanitarian Aid Corps – I will share stories from here soon! Wanna know what it’s like to volunteer in Iraq? Hit the subscribe button and do not miss the next video!
