I was so excited to finally go to the Southampton Boat show and it didn't dissapoint!
It was great seeing all the boats and difficult to get onboard due to covid restrictions, but I made it aboard a few differnet boats and actually fulfilled a bit of a silly dream of having a look around a Benetau Swift Trawler.
I had a great chat with the Captain of the "Morgenster" and also with a few guys on older boats. I also loved looking around all the chandlery and of course had a really good look at the Icom booth to get a feel for handheld radios.
I finshed the day with a crazy Rib experience doing about 40kts around Southamptom Bay and then had a more sedate tour on the foot ferry. The sun was shining all day long and it was a superb day!
My only gripe would be that modern boats just don't seem so seaworthy to me. I wonder if these days, the typical yacht customer is one with money, not ambition to sail to crazy places.
