CINCINNATI (Angela Ingram) - The community is rallying around a 5-year-old battling the same form of cancer that Lauren Hill fought.
Brooklyn Smith celebrated her fifth birthday with family earlier in January 2016. One week later, doctors diagnosed her with DIPG, an inoperable brain cancer.
Brooklyn is at Children's Hospital where doctors are treating her. She had a procedure Thursday, Jan. 14, and is recovering nicely. Brooklyn is all smiles, her cute face and feisty spirit are what draw people to her; especially family members to her.
The Smiths are inspired by Lauren Hill, her battle with cancer, and her resolve to bring awareness to DIPG for a cure and research. They're committed to helping find a cure as well. Now the Smith family is focusing on keeping Brooklyn's spirits up.
They're all smiles for Brooklyn and she is smiling for them. Brooklyn's family wants to raise awareness about DIPG and push for a cure like Lauren Hill's family.
