Dobby, our rescued , medium sized , Indian dog has rear leg paralysis. However, unlike most paralysed dogs, Dobby is not entirely incontinent. What this means is that Dobby can control her bladder / pee untill her bladder is way too ful.. but cannot empty her bladder completely. And she has control over her bowel movements and can poop on her own.
She follows a routine like an able bodied dog.. and pees when we take her to pee which is every 3 to 5 hours. She poops twice a day, once in the morning and once in the evening (usually 12 hours apart)
And as you see in the video.. we take her to the bathroom and hold her over the commode / pot and when it’s time for her poop, with the help of gravity , and she starts pushing and poops on her own.
P.S - we make sure we hold her by her body and not her arms to make sure we don’t strain her or cause her by pain while holding her.
And this is how she poop every day :)
This unique way of taking her to the bathroom developed over time with trial and errors .. and with time we have gotten to the point where we do it just right :)
