Back in 2021 when I was staying at the Omni Corpus Christi Hotel my mother and I were told before arrival that they'd be doing a routine fire alarm inspection and that at arrival the strobes may be flashing but there shouldn't be any audio. One of the Simplex guys forgot to disable the audio and ended up setting off all the speakers in the hotel, to which the hotel apologized and gave all the guests a few free coffees from the coffee place in the lobby and took parking off the rate. Given you don't normally get to see this stuff, I found it funny; my mom, however, thought it was a real alarm and was on edge until an engineering staff member told us the alarm was false and that there was no need to evacuate, I decided to take the elevator as the alarm said not to and with me being Anatole I just had to! This is definitely one of the crazier things that have happened in my years of reviewing hotels!
