Our 9:30pm flight to London from DFW... After everyone had boarded the plane and sat for about an hour, they claimed there was a "mechanical error" and had everyone de-plane. They then "delayed" the flight for an hour, every hour. This continued to occur until after midnight, while everyone sat in the terminal or stood in the massive line at the ticketing counter (this got them nowhere). Finally, after horrible customer service with blatantly rude employees (save 1 person) the flight was cancelled and everyone was kicked out of the airport. I have no idea how American Airlines did not already have or could not manage to get another plane to DFW (a MAJOR Dfw hub) during those 3 hours, other than a complete disregard for their customers. There was no transportation provided and no one was given a room at the hotel that is in the actual gate because "every single room was already booked" (*coughbullshitcough*). How did they kick everyone out? At 1 AM they put everyone's bags through the baggage claim, which is outside the terminal. This forced people to either go get their bags and be locked out of the terminal until the next day, or stay and try to rebook, leaving their bags to do this. My wife and I decided to just get our bags and leave to try again the next day. While this was going on in the baggage claim there was not a single employee in sight. We, along with a couple other patrons, tried to take bags off the claim and put them to the side, but it quickly became too much to handle, even dangerous. Amongst all this the employees were completely rude. They acted as if we were burdening them... I am a frequent flyer and have used AA all my life, amassing over 1.7M account miles and I'm starting to think its time for a change....
