World Stroke Day – October 29th 2016
• World Stroke Day is a highlight in the World Stroke Organization’s campaign to raise awareness about stroke and advocate for better access to treatment
• This year’s theme is ‘Stroke is Treatable’
• To celebrate, SRABC has released a new video outlining the second step in stroke recovery, which focuses on communication and how to deal with aphasia and other communicative disorders:
This is our newest video in the 7 Steps to Stroke Recovery Series produced by Stroke Recovery Association of BC in collaboration with our partners March of Dimes Canada. It gives useful information and advice about dealing with aphasia. Aphasia is a communication disorder that results from damage or injury to the language parts of the brain. It's more common in older adults, particularly those who have had a stroke. Aphasia gets in the way of a person's ability to use or understand words. For more information please go to www.srabc.ca.
