This is all very true but what he should have also said is how many African countries have ended western exploitation and oppression only to fall prey to the same exploitation and oppression by the East. Indeed in the case of Zimbabwe we jumped from the frying pan of British colonial rule into the hell-fire of Chinese exploitation, control and tyrannical oppression.

China and Russia armed the African nationalist to drive the western nations out of Africa with the view of Chinese and Russians taking over.

Zimbabwe had the potential to become the South Korea of Africa if the country had embraced good governance and democratic accountability. Both China and Russia saw to it that all the African nationalists they helped embraced communism and that the post independence government was weak and incompetent; the weaker and the more incompetent the better for Chinese/Russian control.

China is the one nation that has played the leading role in aided and abetted Zanu PF’s vote rigging schemes these last 44 years.

I totally agree that there is cold war in which the East and West are fighting over control of Africa and we are nothing but helpless pawns to be sacrificed by other side as the see fit. To single out the West as Africa’s enemy is to miss the point.

To fail to see how Africans’ failure to govern ourselves have made us helpless prey to West, East and Middle East (new kid on the block notably Dubai who have offered a heaven for Africa’s ruling elite and their fellow mafia gangsters) exploitation.

South Africa is one of the few African countries with healthy and functioning democratic institutions. The 29 May 2024 election result has denied ANC the majority to rule alone was the democratic will of the people of SA and to suggest otherwise without producing the evidence is mischievous, to say the least.

South Korea, Singapore and many other nation have successfully embraced the so called western venture capital system and have thrived. It is therefore nonsensical that SA’s economic success is only possible if the country break away from the west and join BRICS.
