Lots of high school students want to go to an Ivy League school. What’s the rationale behind this phenomenon? Is it a) prestige? b) A better education? c) A higher salary post-graduation? Or d) none of the above? Is an Ivy League education even worth it these days?
Sup goobers. It’s Kev here with my second video ever. I thought I’d start with square zero since it really frustrates me to hear bad answers to the question: Why do you (personally) want to attend an Ivy-league school? 9 times out of 10, people want to go because their community expects them to, and by community, I mean *ahem* parents and also, you know, society in general.
That being said, I should go easy on you guys because after all, the underlying reason I wanted to go to Princeton was because of my family. I didn’t want to let my Mom and Pops down. There was a certain set of expectations generated and my parents who escaped the Cultural Revolution put their hopes on my shoulders. After attending Phillips Exeter Academy, a school that regularly sends 50+ seniors to the Ivies each year, how could I to let them down?
