Gibson's Les Paul Custom is, next to the Goldtop, the Les Paul in its purest form and as its creator preferred it, namely with the 'Black Beauty' appearance that is very reminiscent of a tuxedo; elegant black with beautiful gold accents.
In 1968, production of the single cut Les Paul Custom was resumed and a number of adjustments were made. The Custom got a maple top, the 'control-cavity' in the body was cut out in a different way and from 1969 it also adopted a multi-layer body construction, also called 'pancake body'.
However, this 1969 Les Paul Custom has an extraordinary mix of typical '68 and '69 specs. For example, it still has a 'one-piece' mahogany body. The three-piece C-shaped neck and the Gibson logo without a dot on the 'i' are typical of the year 1969, while, like the earlier models, it has no volute
The weather checking and playwear are proof of a well played and used instrument. It has also been well maintained and has had a refret and newer tuners. The pickups and potentiometers are still original.
