It's been a long-time fan theory that Alien and Blade Runner share a universe, but over the years this theory has become a reality. In today's installment of Blade Runner Week, we examine the relationship between movies in Ridley Scott's Universe and how characters from both films seem to have a history with each other.
The similarities between these classic sci fi movies are endless, but there are now definitive pieces of evidence pointing to relationships between key characters that tie these films together into one cinematic universe. If you're a fan of either franchise, you'll be excited to see how the creators took this fan theory and ran with it but more importantly how this idea began and where it stands as of today.
Even if it wasn't originally intended to be, these two sci fi series are tied together by a few things, one being a mentor relationship between Dr. Eldon Tyrell of Tyrell Corp. in Blade Runner (1982) and Peter Weyland of Weland Yutani Corp in Prometheus and Alien etc.
Ridley Scott directed both Alien and Blade Runner with similar visions of the future. His visions were so similar that he even mentioned he felt like the futuristic Los Angeles in Blade Runner would be the home the crew in Alien would have returned too had they ever actually made it back... Interesting, isn't it?
