This is on a VW Up! but I am guessing it will apply to many other VW models.

The coil pack can separate from the rubber sleeve when the sleeve sticks to the spark plug insulator. An airline loosens the grip and as an added bonus pushes the rubber sleeve free.

Sleeves are available if you break one (04E-905-199-H) for £11.50.

Use dielectric grease inside rubber sleeve end when reinstalling to avoid the problem in the future.
