Unseasonal snowfall surprised Muscovites on Tuesday (October 1). This year the first snow dropped out in Moscow rather early - about a month earlier than usual.
Wet snowfall in the Russian capital lasted no more than ten minutes and has melted quickly afterwards.
Muscovites in the streets generally welcomed the first snow, but some were philosophical about the turn for the worse in the weather.
"It's normal, there is no bad weather, there might be just bad clothes. I ride a bike, and now I will ride carefully, quietly and peacefully, being aware of other drivers," Anton, a biker from Moscow told Reuters.
Some said wet snow could hinder traffic in the city.
"For me it's good, but for Moscow it's awful, there will obviously be heavy traffic jams today," Timur said.
Others were more optimistic.
"It's wonderful, really wonderful. Everything is fine, the mood is good and that's why the weather is good too," said a woman who was walking in the street holding a plastic bag over her head.
The abnormally low temperature will stay in Moscow and its regions for almost a week, according to weather forecasts.
The temperature may fall below zero down to -7 degrees at night over the week, Russian meteorological service predicted.
