The story of Rabbi Philip and Ruth Lazowski is one of kindness, faith and individual bravery in the face of humanity’s darkest moment. Saved by Ruth’s mother during a selection in a Polish ghetto, Rabbi Lazowski went on to survive the Holocaust through perseverance and faith. His story and Ruth’s continued with a reconnection and eventually marriage, years later in the United States.
Today, they have three sons and seven grandchildren. Rabbi Philip led his congregation at Beth Hillel Synagogue in Bloomfield, Connecticut for 45 years, and both he and Ruth are tireless in their commitment to Holocaust awareness and education, and their unwavering fight against bigotry and hate.
