Magnificent Carew Castle in Pembrokeshire Wales. A castle rich in history and it is even meant to be haunted by a ghost of an ape.

The original Norman castle overlooks the Carew inlet and was built around the eleven hundreds.

The castle was extended with luxurious apartments with many Tudor features in the late 15th, and early 16th centuries. Over the years, Carew Castle was transformed from a Medieval fortress into an Elizabethan manor.

After changing hands three times during the Civil War, the south wall was pulled down to render the castle indefensible.

After the Restoration, the castle was returned to the de Carew family, who continued to occupy the eastern wing until 1686.

The castle was then abandoned and allowed to decay.

You can visit the castle and it’s only a short drive from the seaside town of Tenby.
