It's a learning curve trying to fathom out the best way to film footage on a fast moving machine. Loads of factors to ruin a great sound such as excessive external noise, wind and badly set microphone parameters.
Having now had the DJI mic for a couple of weeks I thought I would delve into the realms of trying to get that perfect mix of engine and voice...all while doing 70mph (I would never go faster).
The mic set up:
1 DJI Microphone in my helmet. Set to -12db
1 DJI Microphone in a small case in my back jacket pocket. Set to -12db
Initial conclusion: Works great at reasonable speeds and a great mix can be achieved. Higher speeds and the helmet mic struggles. This is due to having a rather noisy GTAir 2. The rear mic was rattling around a bit causing some issues. I think higher speed recording can be received if the engine mic is better secured and better protected... As for the helmet mic, well that would need a different helmet.
Stay tuned for more experiments in the name of science...
