A man with a history of assaulting people at transit stations was sentenced to 23 and a half years in prison for the murder of a victim who was hit in the head with a hammer at a downtown Seattle bus stop last year.
Christopher Martin, 35, pleaded guilty to second-degree murder for the January 2023 attack that prosecutors described as ‘unprovoked and brutal’.
According to the charges, witnesses saw Martin walking on in the area of 4th Avenue and Pike Street waving a hammer and yelling at people. Martin then approached the victim, 53-year-old Shawn Grenzebach, at the bus stop and struck him in the head with a hammer.
