When it comes to Education for women The Edinburgh 7 were pioneers in Scottish history and the cause of the Surgeon's Hall Riots. Scottish history tour guide, Bruce Fummey tells this story of women in Scottish history. Led by Sophia Jex-Blake seven intelligent, determined ladies fought for the education rights of women and made Edinburgh University the first university in the UK to accept women.
However the story didn't end there. The Edinburgh seven had more hurdles to face than just getting in to university. The Surgeon's Hall Riot was only one of them.
