Humans are trusting - we believe the stories we're told. In this presentation, John Pollock talks about storytelling and how sharing facts truthfully is essential for culture. The deep roots of human evolution for social communication and language establishes our innate ability for conveying knowledge to one-another and across generations with stories.
With degrees in physics, John Pollock teaches neuroscience and leads students researching the basic science of pain, revealing that pain is biologically distinct between males and females. He also leads a team creating STEM education learning games: a current focus is on mental health. He approaches learning through storytelling, because "that is what our brains are hard-wired to do.”
