"Fragility and Beauty: an exhibition of sculptures by Mario Valdés at the College of Physicians of Madrid."

"Dear colleague, welcome to this exhibition that highlights the close relationship between mental health and the health of the planet. As a physician and artist, I have sought to explore how these two spheres intertwine and influence each other in our daily lives.

As a species, our connection with nature has a profound impact on our mental health. As we go about our daily lives, we often overlook the fact that we are an integral part of an interconnected ecosystem. Nature speaks to us in many ways, providing moments of tranquility, helping us find peace, and inviting us to reflect on our existence. We are witnessing a global environmental catastrophe caused by "progress." The planet faces new challenges and responds to these stimuli that have a direct impact on our mental health.

Concern for the future of the planet, the loss of connection with nature, and the sense of powerlessness in the face of these challenges generate anxiety, stress, and despair in our lives.

In this context, I have created this exhibition. Through my glass sculptures, I aim to illustrate the delicate relationship between our mental health and the health of the planet. Glass, with its intrinsic fragility, represents our own vulnerability and the fragility of the nature that surrounds us. Each carefully crafted piece of glass symbolizes a call to action. By contemplating these sculptures, we are invited to reflect on our role in environmental protection and how our individual actions can make a difference. By healing our connection with nature, we can also find healing in our own mental health.

I encourage you to join this transformative experience, where we can explore the intersection between human fragility and the fragility of the planet. Together, we can work towards a future in which nature and humans coexist in harmony, protecting both our mental health and the environment that sustains us."
