You mentioned that after getting your IUD removed you never had a period and that's because you found out that you were pregnant. Congratulationson on that, first and foremost, that is so exciting for you and your family. It also sounds like you have some concerns because you talked with the doctor earlier on and they mentioned that you might have an increased risk of complications later because you got pregnant shortly after the IUD was removed. There are some concerns when a woman gets pregnant right after the IUD is removed. One is a slightly higher increased risk of miscarriage because IUDs thin the lining of the uterus, that is one of the things that helps to prevent pregnancy. If your body never has a chance to have a normal cycle and build that lining back up it may or may not support a pregnancy very well. If you've made it farther into your pregnancy and things are going well so far, then that shouldn't be a concern. Later on there really isn't any concern as long as the IUD was not in place when you got pregnant. As long as it's been removed and everything is clear there then you should be okay during the rest of your pregnancy. I do recommend though that you make and keep all of your prenatal appointments and stay in close contact with your doctor if you're ever concerned. There are no stupid questions so if you ever experience anything that is worrisome to you, call your doctor and after asking you more specific questions they can decide if it's something to be concerned about and if it requires further investigation or if it's just something that is a normal part of pregnancy.
