Meteorologist Ashley Renee has your 6:50 am forecast. Good morning and happy Wednesday. Skies are still mostly cloudy this morning, but we may see cloud coverage decreasing somewhat a bit later today. Highs will be in the low and mid 90s. We’ll have mostly sunny to partly cloudy skies for Thursday and Friday too. Highs will be in the mid 90s tomorrow. As a ridge of high pressure builds in, that will help us to stay pretty much dry through Saturday and help the temperatures to rise too. Highs will be in the upper 90s on Friday and we might even reach 100 degrees on Saturday. Early next week, we’ll receive rain, but the amount depends on where the bulk of tropical moisture moves. If you have any outdoor Father’s Day plans like grilling, barbecuing, being at the park, etc., Saturday will be the better day for outdoor plans. As of now, model guidance is shifting the deepest moisture west of us, but that could change again. Either way, prepare for rain (likely heavy rain at times) for a couple of days near the beginning of next week. Tracking the Tropics: We are still keeping an eye on an area of low pressure in the southern Gulf to see if it develops into a tropical system. Invest 90L is a broad area of low pressure just off of the west-central coast of Florida. It has a 10% chance of forming within the next 48 hours. It has a 20% chance of developing into a system over the next 7 days. Heavy rainfall will continue over the Florida peninsula for the next few days. It’s expected to move NE across the Florida peninsula and move offshore of the SE U.S. coast. Conditions don’t seem too favorable for development. It’s not something we have to worry about though as it’s not expected to move in our direction. 7-day rainfall estimates are still around 1.75” - 3” for the Greater Baton Rouge area. We’ll stay mostly dry today through Saturday and then rain moves in later in the day on Sunday. This will continue for a couple of days next week. Stay tuned for updates. Thanks for watching.
