The M249 Machine Gun || The Army and Marines Ultimate Weapon?

Early in the 1990s, the US Army and Marine Corps created a new weapon with the goal of greatly enhancing the firepower of infantry squads. The M249, or SAW, automatic weapon is much smaller and has a higher rate of fire. The US Army and US special operations personnel still use the M249 presently. Automatic weapons' suppressive fire is essential in both attacks and defense. The Browning M1918 Automatic Rifle was the first generation of automatic rifles, and in the 1950s it was replaced by the M60 all-purpose machine gun.
