Health Data Research (HDR) UK is the national institute for health data science. We are uniting the UK’s health data to enable discoveries that improve people’s lives. Our vision is that every health and care interaction and research endeavour will be enhanced by access to large scale data and advanced analytics.

The following talks from the Cambridge Festival 2021 event provide information and examples of how health data is helping with the COVID-19 response.

1. Caroline Cake - Health Data Research UK overview, COVID-19 priorities and Impact Case Studies (e.g. vaccine effectiveness).
2. Dr Angela Wood - Linked electronic health records for research on a nationwide cohort, including over 54 million people in England (CVD-COVID-UK Consortium).
3. Dr Adam Butterworth - (Inter)national health data collaboration to prioritise drugs for COVID-19 by combining health data and multi-'omic data.
4. Dr Ewan Harrison - Whole-genome sequencing of SARS-CoV-2 (the virus causing the COVID-19 pandemic) to understand viral transmission and evolution, and to inform public health responses (COVID-19 Genomics UK Consortium).
